A few of our favorite things!

Our girl Samantha is a talented hairdresser, an adventurous traveler, and a caring member of our community. She also loves to exchange ideas and thoughts with all of us at Globe Salon, including our guests. That’s why we’re happy that she occasionally takes the time to blog for us here. It’s been too long, so we hope you enjoy her latest entry and discover some useful, fun information!

I am a child of Oprah. Not literally, of course. But I am a product of a generation that most definitely wanted to hear what Ms. Winfrey had to say, sharing everything from the best new health program to what book we should be currently reading. It was always holiday time when Oprah’s “My Favorite Things” episode aired, and it featured Oprah celebrating her “must have” products while giving deserving audience members valuable presents. Even though her show has ceased production, she still shares her list on the Oprah Winfrey Network, so I thought it would be fun to compile a list of some of what our team here at Globe Salon currently can’t live without. You can use this for last minute gift ideas, or go ahead and treat yourself!

Since hair is our main focus, let’s start there. Overall, our team’s favorite product is Kerastase Elixir Ultime Oil. It smooths. It straightens. It protects hair from heat damage. It smells amazing (one of our guests calls it her “hair perfume”)! And now, it comes in more specific formulations for fine hair and UVA protection. Switching to hair tools … Hairdresser Amanda cannot live without her Ibiza Round Brush (also found at Globe Salon), which she uses to give her awesome blowouts the volume she loves. I am frequently asked by clients what flat iron I recommend. For the past decade I have used and loved the Hai 1″ Convertible. It is reasonable priced, easy to use and lasts forever.

Moving away from hair, the holidays are a busy and stressful time for most people. I hope you can take time for yourselves and relax, or perhaps just indulge in something you enjoy. You can always pamper yourself with a facial from our esthetician Diena, which guests rave as among the best they’ve ever had. And when it comes time for Diena to treat herself to a spa day? Her favorite place to do that is the Aquae Sulis Spa at the JW Marriott in Summerlin. Our Salon Director Staci likes to let her stress out (while getting warm on a cold day) at her favorite yoga studio, Vegas Hot. It doesn’t have to be extravagant; sometimes it is the simple things! Assistant Manager Jenna cannot live without a night cuddled up with Netflix, and my biggest guilty pleasure this week is the Dilly Pickle Popped Gourmet Popcorn that I pick up at our Soho Lofts neighbor, Resnicks Grocery.

Holiday season is loaded with presents and party dresses, but when it comes down to it, my favorite things truly are the people surrounding me. I am grateful to be a part of such an amazing team and blessed to have the clients that share their life with me. Thank you all. Happy New Year!
