GLOBE SALON: Fashion Fling III Raises more than $15,000 for LV ArtReach

GLOBE SALON CELEBRATES 12th ANNIVERSARY WITH FASHION FLING III
More than $15,000 raised for the LV Art Reach of Casa De Luz

On Saturday, Nov 10, 2012, about 125 guests celebrated Globe Salon’s 12th anniversary with Fashion Fling III: Down the Rabbit Hole, a charity mixer that raised more than $15,000 for LV ArtReach.

With the help of generous community partners, Globe Salon transformed the hidden downtown studio of internationally-renowned artist Tim Bavington into an Alice-themed party venue, complete with a giant “Through the Looking Glass” card deck and a “rabbit hole” from which emerged a runway for a fashion show showcasing clothing from the Gypsy Den, makeup by L Makeup Institute, and hair by the Globe Salon team. Guests also noshed fabulous eats and delicious drinks from event sponsors. A complete sponsor list is available at thefashionfling.com.

The event benefactor, LV ArtReach (lvartreach.com), is a 501(c)3 non-profit committed to furthering the arts by and for inner-city kids in Las Vegas. LV ArtReach provides quality opportunities for underprivileged youth to expand their skills and self esteem through new creative forms of expression and the unique mentorship of local artists.

Briana Mackey of LV ArtReach said of the event, “Everyone at LV ArtReach is overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from Globe Salon and the community. We know that it’s people coming together — with their time, talents and resources — that truly transforms lives. This event was the embodiment of all that’s great about Las Vegas. We will be using the event proceeds to support future programs, and also toward making our existing facilities capable of holding workshops and classes. Our goal is to make ARTreach, and the arts, available to more underserved youth throughout Las Vegas.”

Funds were raised through ticket sales, a silent auction, sale of some of the unique set pieces designed for the event, and the sale of a special t-shirt designed just for the event by Tim Bavington. This was Mr. Bavington’s first foray into clothing design. A limited supply of the shirts remains; they are available at Globe Salon for a $20 donation to benefit LV ArtReach.
